Okabe calls a lab meeting to discuss the Phone Microwave where Kurisu dubs the messages sent into the past as "D-Mails." The group then conducts one more test experiment on a banana, with it ending in a success. Later on, Kurisu conducts further experiments on the microwave and is able to deduce some of the rules for sending D-Mails. Her data reveals that the D-Mails may only be sent during a specific time of the day, long messages are split into several smaller mails, a maximum of 36 English or 18 Japanese characters is allowed per mail and the timer on the microwave determines how far back the message is sent i.e. one second on the timer is equivalent to one hour in reality. Okabe also has a strange dream where he falls through a black hole and is told by a mysterious voice that the roles of time and space have been reversed in the dream and warns him that he must not turn back from his path, at which point his arm is turned into jelly. The next day, Moeka shows up to see the IBN 5100 and seeks to borrow it from Okabe. He tries and fails to hide the true nature of their experiments from her and so hails her as Lab Member No. 005.
